1. How do I turn my camera on?
There is a small switch under the camera. Turn the switch to the ON position and then press the camera mode button below the charge indicator light once. Your camera is on and ready to take pictures.
Please keep in mind that turning the power switch OFF will erase all pictures in your camera’s memory. Once turned ON, there is no need to turn the camera off. The camera has been designed to turn itself off after 30 seconds of inactivity in order to conserve battery power.
Only turn the camera off after all files have been transferred to your computer and if you will not be using your camera for a prolonged period of time.
2. How do I charge my camera’s battery?
The Gsmart A30 can only be charged via your computers USB connection. Simply connect the camera to your computer with the supplied USB cord to charge.
The camera’s charge indicator light will be red when charging and green when fully charged. It takes approximately 3 hours to charge the internal lithium battery.
3. Why will my camera not charge?
Please ensure that you are connecting your camera to the back of your computer and not to a USB hub. The front of most computers have USB ports but these are merely hubs and may not supply the needed power to charge your camera battery.
Additionally, ensure that the power switch under you camera is in the ON position. The Gsmart A30 will not charge if the switch is in the OFF position.
4. What does the 26 and other numbers on my LCD mean?
The camera’s LCD displays the number of pictures you can take. When first used, the camera displays 26 meaning there you can take 26 pictures with the camera’s current settings.
You can change your camera settings in order to take as many as 209 pictures at high compression and low resolution. Please refer to your Getting Started or User Manual to learn more about changing settings.
5. How do I delete pictures from my camera?
There are two trash can icons in the LCD. Press the mode button until you see the trash can icons. To delete all files:
- Press the mode button until you see the first trash can icon
- Press the shutter button once. The picture count begins to blink
- Press the shutter button again. All files are now deleted.
To only delete the last image or video - Press the mode button until you see the second trash can icon
- Press the sutter button once. The last picture or video is now deleted.
6. How do I charge my camera?
Ensure that the power switch under the camera is in the ON position and connect your camera your computer’s USB port. The camera’s charge indicator will light up red when charging and green when done.
7. How do I connect my camera to a computer?
Perform the following to successully connect your camera to your computer:
- Ensure that you have installed the software for your camera before you connect it to your computer
- Ensure that the power switch under the camera is in the ON position
- Coonect the USB cable to the back of the computer for best results
- Connect your camera to the USB cable and press the mode button under the charge light indicator
- When the camera software is installed, an icon entitle Digital Camera is placed in your desktop. Double click on this icon
- Select Photo Download to transfer files to your computer or Camera or NetMeeting to use as a Web/PC Cam.
8. How do I transfer images and movies from my camera to my computer?
Peform the following to successrully transfer images and videos from your camera to your computer: - Connect your camera to a computer (See point 7 for more details)
- Launch the Digital Camera software and press Photo Download
- Click on the red camera icon to download photos from your Gsmart A30. You can preview the pictures displayed by right-clicking on them
- Select the images you wish to transfer to your computer or press the select all icon (hovering over each icon will provide a description). Notice that the software only shows 12 images at a time. If you wish to view and download the remainding pictures in your camera’s memory, first click the select all icon and then the next icon, denoted by an right pointing arrow. You must press the select all icon on each screen in order to download all images
- Once you have selected the images you wish to download, click the save icon, denoted by a floppy, and choose the save directory. All images will be saved in this location.
9. What kind of memory does my camera use?
Your Gsmart A30 uses SDRAM type memory and comes with 8MB built-in.
Please do not turn the camera power switch under the camera off or drop the camera as all files in memory may be lost.
Also, please make sure to fully charge the camera before use as running out of power can also cause the memory to not hold files and lead to picture or video loss.
10. How do I record videos?
Press the mode button twice to get to record mode. Record mode is denoted by 3 rectangles. To record, press down the shutter button and keep it pressed until done or memory runs out.
11. There is no sound in my videos. Is something wrong?
There is nothing wrong with your video. In order to keep this camera as compact as possible, microphones and sound are not supported.
12. How do I use my camera as a Web/PC Cam?
Perform the following to use your camera as a Web Cam: - Connect your camera to your computer and launch the Digital Camera software
- Click on the Camera option
- You can now capture video. Please refer to the vendor of whatever video capturing software you are using for more details.
To use your camera with NetMeeting: - Connect your camera to your computer and launch the Digital Camera software
- Click on the NetMeeting option
- You can now video conference using NetMeeting. Please refer to Microsoft’s website for more details.
13. I have a Macintosh computer. How do I use my Mustek camera as a Web/PC Cam?
Unfortunately, there is no support for Web/PC Cam under Macintosh computers.
